HEather E. Saunders
chief executive officer
Heather E. Saunders is chief executive officer and co-owner of Nova Arc Content Co. She has over 15 years of experience as a technical editor, writer, and proofreader specializing in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and medical sectors. She works with publishers, journals, organizations, scientific professionals, and subject matter experts on everything from technical aeronautics files and cutting-edge training materials to nonfiction books and interactive multimedia. Together, they develop clear, focused, and accurate content for complex subjects with inclusivity, accessibility, and conscious language at the forefront.
She launched her first company, Just the Write Type, in 2009 to provide editing and proofreading services for technical and scientific content. She delivered creative and technical content for Raytheon Technologies for six years, supporting corporate and the businesses—Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, Raytheon Intelligence & Space, and Raytheon Missiles & Defense—with proposal, training, creative, marketing, and technical writing and editing. This included work for the Department of Defense including DARPA and all U.S. military branches, NASA, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Department of Transportation, and numerous internal departments.
Heather is vice president/president-elect of ACES: The Society for Editing, the nation’s leading editing organization. She regularly teaches on and writes about conscious language, editing, freelancing, and science communication. She holds a master’s degree in professional writing and a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She lives in Boston, Massachusetts.
Michael Caccamise
chief OPERATING officer
Michael Caccamise is chief operating officer and co-owner of Nova Arc Content Co. and has been a writer and editor in the aerospace, defense, technology, travel, nonprofit, and media industries for over 25 years. His work has appeared in USA Today, The Associated Press, FiveThirtyEight.com, Defense News, and numerous newspapers, as well as on the websites and social media of several international technology companies.
Michael worked for 13 years at Raytheon Technologies, supporting corporate and the businesses—Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, Raytheon Intelligence & Space, and Raytheon Missiles & Defense—with communications, proposal, marketing, creative, and technical writing and editing. This included work for the Department of Defense including DARPA and all U.S. military branches, NASA, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Department of Transportation. He has also provided services to Madden Media, Amzur, and Gannett, among others.
He was a sportswriter and then late-night news copy desk editor at the now-closed Tucson Citizen newspaper. In 2006, he earned first place for sportswriting from the Arizona Press Club and a Top 10 honorable mention national award from the Associated Press Sports Editors, which also recognized the sports section with five Top 10 national awards while he was on staff. He holds a master’s degree in humanities from American Military University and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Arizona. He lives in Tucson, Arizona.
